Performance
Daylighting and proper lighting control have been linked to increased classroom grade performance.
Daylight Harvesting
can lower classroom energy bills significantly and raise classroom performance.
Simplify
your lighting controls while saving energy. Just because the controls are programmable doesn't mean they need to be complicated.
Return on Investment
is usually under 12 months. Significant reductions in both maintenance costs and energy consumption can be expected.
Lighting can be 50% of your energy consumption
Implementation of high-efficiency lighting while important only represents about 30%-40% of the savings equation. Lighting controls offer a much greater savings potential in a classroom environment and so represent the largest return on investment.

The best strategy for a campus standard balances maximum energy savings against ease of use. LC&D offers the best of both, with the GR 2400 lighting control system.

Traditionally lighting controls in a classroom have consisted of a wall switch, and perhaps an occupancy sensor. Some schools or universities also include larger area time-based shut-off controls as a building-wide approach. More recently, cutting-edge designs have included photocells for daylight harvesting

With distributed intelligent controls, one can easily incorporate into each classroom, multiple control functions (occupancy sensors, photocells, manual control, and time based shut-off).

To make specifications, installation, and continuing support extremely simple, LC&D offers assistance with our team of highly trained Sales Engineers, and our Engineering Assistance Department. They can make recommendations, and even assist with AutoCAD drawings. Our Technical Support department also offers free lifetime dial-up programming.

Increase Student Performance
Day lighting can save energy, but more significantly, can raise overall student grade performance with some reports indicating an increase as high as 26%.

Effective daylight harvesting controls are required to reap the expected energy savings.

LC&D can provide manual control of both electric lighting and day lighting louvers, making your daylighting controls more flexible for the classroom environment.

Daylight Harvesting
The concept of daylight harvesting is simple. Through a photocell, selected light fixtures are automatically switched or dimmed to compensate for ambient daylight. Effective daylight harvesting can reduce lighting as much as 78%.

A recent study concluded that successful implementation of daylight harvesting is best achieved with a system that can easily be adjusted after commissioning. This requirement is based on the changing lighting requirements and space usage that occurs over time.

LC&D offers the MicroPanel, intelligent photocells and Unity lighting control software, a programmable building-wide approach to flexible daylight harvesting. With the click of a mouse, photocell trip points can be changed on a room-by-room basis in only seconds, ending the requirement for costly work orders and building engineer visits to a specific room to make requested changes.

Simplify Your Lighting Controls
End users (teachers, students) are presented with an intuitive wall-mounted switch for manual control. The switches are simple and easy to use. LC&D offers a number of choices: from the standard toggle switches, to the Chelsea Digital Switch or even a vandal-proof SwitchBolt.   Automatic functions such as daylight harvesting, time-based shut-off, can be quickly adjusted to meet changing requirements in seconds. The software is so simple to use that LC&D offers free lifetime programming.

Return On Investment
The up front cost of the GR 2400 system is comparable to traditional lighting controls. The realized energy savings however are consistently greater.

Payback is usually well under one year and a properly designed system can reduce energy costs by 50%.

LC&D recommends adopting a campus or district-wide standard for lighting controls. This will lower maintenance costs both in regards training time and parts inventory. Better yet, establish LC&D as your campus standard and lower maintenance even more by the elimination of most field calls.

Programming changes, trouble-shooting, adjustments and monitoring can all be done either locally or remotely using Unity lighting control software or Unity GX Advanced Graphical Software.

Our Unity lighting control software is so easy to use, that we will do it for you. For free. Extend your maintenance team to include LC&D. We are on call 24/7/365 and can program, adjust or monitor your lighting controls in real-time so your maintenance group can concentrate on handling the bigger problems.

LC&D offers a number of interfaces to many building automation systems.
